received email with attachment saying that we had a new message from PHILIP BARNES (401) 813-4032

did not open attachment, always google suspicious stuff like this first. and after finding this page-- deleted it immediately and blocked sender.

Rec'd a message via Google from Phil Barnes at Ring Central. I dialed the number it's not in service. Then I google it to find this site advising to not open this attachment. Why do people do this? It's heart breaking to see how people have lost respect and create terror and such in this day and age. Well I didn't open it either.

1) Any of you that have received this email and opened it have been infected with a virus.
2) Any of you who have received this and their anti-virus didn't quarantine it straight away need to change your anti virus.

Thankfully I am smart enough to recognize spam. Also smart enough to have our IT tech blacklist this email address. I hope nobody has a bad experience from this email.

I received the same email at my work. I deleted it immediately because I don't have Ring Central, and I don't know a Philip Barnes. In fact I don't know anybody in that area code.

Like others, I received a Ring Central notice that a call had come in for me with a doc attached. When I went to look at the document, it was garbled. I Googled Philip Barnes in Providence and found nothing definitive.

Received the same email see below. Thankfully, i looked here and saw that it has happened to other folks. Thanks for posting your experiences with this suspicious email . I will not open this file!!

I received an email message from RingCentral stating that I have a new voice message from Philip Barnes at this phone number, with a Word doc attached. I did not open the Word doc since it is suspicious.

I JUST RECEIVED AN EMAIL WITH ATTACHMENT TRIED TO OPEN THEN I REALIZED IT MIGHT BE BAD

I just opened the attachment because I am really smart. Keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully I'll be alright, but I'll try to remember to update here if my computer has issues.
