Claiming to be IRS. Said that I owe in excess of 5K. Said that I could pay over the phone and when I challenged them saying that I knew for a fact that the IRS uses third party companies to collect payments, they hung up. Called back, went through the gauntlet again out of curiosity, challenged them again on other claims that they made, and was hung up on again. All of the people that I spoke to could barely speak English, and the number was a Washington number on caller ID. BEWARE!!!

Regarding my financial aide they took my 200 dollars for a transaction fee

Scam call: Someone calls claiming to be from the IRS or the Immigration Services (USCIS) stating that they are going to send the cops to arrest you for some violation.
Looks like the call is from DC but it is actually from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Be nice to them. Tell them that you are very scared and to send over the cops and that you will deal with them directly.

Received a call on 9/14/15 - automated call with recording. Claimed that it was a call from the IRS and that the agency was about to file a lawsuit against me, and that I should call the number for further information. I have no pending disputes with the IRS and no balance owed, and this bogus call would be a funny way for IRS to notify someone (by a recording, with no name mentioned, and no balance mentioned). I didn't call them back.
