Call was for a lowered interest credit card, robo call. I was then transferred to someone who was being very quiet and sounded like they were speaking in an African non-English/French language.
it was automated message. said I was the winner of a travelocity 2500.00 prize for vactation? My phone number was the lucky one selected. I hung up.
Recording said I was randomly selected from Expedia to receive a free trip and must have a valid credit card to check into a resort.
Called me saying he was from the national tax office in Washington and there was going to be an audit on my taxes. I am a college student, don't have a paying job, and have never filed taxes before. I will next year, but have not had to in the past. When I told him this he hung up. I called back and said I had another person (my mom) who wanted to hear what he was saying and he hung up. Called back saying I was alone, and he hung up. The one thing he wanted to know is if I was my name, and when I said yes he hung up. I traced the number through an app on my phone and it said the call came from Longview, TX (not Washington), but it sounded like he was in India.
Received a recorded message that IRS is filing a suit against me for fraud. Total scam.
Any idiot knows that the IRS does not work that way. They send a letter and they seize your bank account if they think you owe them money.
Probably the result of the Chinese hacking attack.
